If he goes to cops what happens to his 485? He is worried that's why he is on this forum - I think he was looking for posters with similar experiences and whether complaining to cops worked or not.
Is 485 the sole purpose of our life now ? Personally I don't give a damn about the GC if I have to see my family suffer and I don't think any crime can be worse than seeing an adult abusing an infant who can't protect himself and not doing something about it.

Well - I agree. What you say is true. In the past - IV leadership came up with campaigns and with plan and then the heat picked up and members started contributing and working hard and thats how all these campaigns are a success to some extent.
Now when new members are trying to come up with something - I personally feel that IV leadership must either endorse and support and guide or if such new campaigns that are not coming directly from IV core may not be advisable because they may not be the best approach - I think IV core can communicate the concern and intent to not ssupport new campaigns.
If there is no response - it becomes difficult for people to do anything because most people spring into action ONLY when IV core endorses the effort otherwise members will start campaigns - get no support or very little support and the campaigns will just go wasted.
On another note - it is always the best to join State chapters and talk to chapter leads and also mobilize people in state chaapter level - itis not easy but works in long run

I dont know if i agree that ND will dictate approval. On there are several approvals with RD and ND in 2008. What explains that?
Since we are not there we can't know the whole process, but it is true that there is always some logic when it appears to be random. We just don't know that. And that logic is not always fair, as is the case in visa distributions.
Published processing dates can mean anything between two extremes (i) Everything filed before published date has been processed, (ii) Nothing after the published date has been processed. Most likely it is close to (i). Thus, if published processing date is Aug 30 '07, it does not mean that they have not looked at any case filed after this date. I believe cases are distributed in lots, not one at a time. And if someone takes his/her lot of 1000 cases for processing, and then goes on vacation for 30 days - the lot just waits at his/her desk. Therefore, even if published date is Aug 30'07, it is quite probable that Sept/Oct'07 cases, even later cases, may have been seen. Also, note that published dates are as of June 30, not current.

Everybody who reads this thread should either donate themselves or if they have already done so, then make sure you talk to a friend and convince him/her to donate. You are not doing any public service by donating to IV (nothing wrong with those kind of donations). Whatever you donate will actually come back to you as a benefit you really want and in a much bigger multiple.

My AOS case is pending and I am getting married in Feb next year. I have just found out that my spouse's passport and DOB certificate only has her first name. My spouse is from Indonesia (born and citizen of Indonesia). I am planning to use that to apply in the ROW EB3 category. Does anyone know if firsrt name and no last name on passport and DOB will be a problem for obtaiing an H1B in India and later applying for her AOS when the PD becomes current. Please share your views and have a good thxgiving!

Yes, that would suffice as a name change in the passport. My situation was as follows.
Passport:
Surname: Y**** Z****
Given name: X****
I requested for an observation from SFO consulate and got it corrected to the following format.
Surname: Z****
Given name: X**** Y****
I got this done through mail and these were the documents required
1. Passport
2. $10 Cashiers cheque
3. Miscellaneous service form
4. self addressed and prepaid usps envelope
5. Cover letter
I guess as long as you dont change the spelling of your name, you do not require an advertisement or affidavit for getting it corrected.

Could not able to understand from where this EB2 Vs EB3 scenario came up, silly.
If somebody says EB3 filer is inferior to EB2 (in a way), then it is ridicules. Being said that, nobody has asked to them to opt for EB3, it was just the situation they were in when they started their GC journey. Let it be their educational qualification, experience or job requirement, they opted to go with EB3 with full consciousness and also due to some compelling reasons. If EB2 dates are moving forward why EB2 filers needs to be blamed / targeted for that? This doesn’t make any sense either.
Also, now nobody is stopping them to convert from EB3 to EB2.
Let us just stop this EB2 Vs EB3 crap and do something constructive. These kinds of fights will not take us anywhere.

# USCIS has just released their tally of cap filings as of 04/04/2007, Wednesday. In two days (04/02 and 04/03), they received 133,000 unique pieces of mail containing H-1B petitions, which turned out to be lower than 150,000 which they had initially reported. They reached the updated number following a physical count of the mail. Each piece of mail may contain more than one H-1B petition and it will take USCIS a substantial amount of time to open and sort through that volume of mail. It is a good news in a way that at the end, the total may turn out to be less than guestimate in the community and the rate of odds for winning in the lottery may be much more promising than the one initially anticipated in the rumors.
