'The Batman has to come back': New movie The Dark Knight Rises looks the darkest yet as teaser trailer surfaces

In precisely 367 days, the highly anticipated Dark Knight Rises will be unleashed upon the world, but until then fans will have to make do with a special teaser trailer.

The final instalment of the revamped Batman graphic novel looks darker than ever.

And cinema-goers who went to watch Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part II were lucky enough to see the first official trailer for the conclusion of the Christopher Nolan directed trilogy and Batman's final villain, Bane.

Bat to the future: The Dark Knight Rises trailer shows a flashback to Batman Begins

The trailer has now hit the internet and fans around the world are beginning to speculate that in this film Bruce Wayne, played by Christian Bale, may have met his match with genetically built super-villain Bane.

Tom Hardy stars as Bane, the man who breaks the back of Batman in the original comic book series, and from the trailer it appears Bane is the new 'Dark Knight' destroying Gotham City as we see the city's skyscrapers falling down.

Crime busters: Gary Oldman plays a sick and barely able to move Commissioner Gordon begging Bruce Wayne to bring back Batman

There is a hint towards the return of Liam Neeson's character, Ra's al Ghul, as he provides a voiceover for the film.

He can be heard saying: 'If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, then you become something else entirely. A legend, Mr. Wayne, a legend.'

The Dark Knight ended with Batman having to go into hiding after taking the blame for the destruction caused by the Joker and Harvey 'Two-face' Dent.

Fear factor: Bruce Wayne overcomes his phobia of bats in Batman Begins

The trailer ends with Gotham City's skyscrapers crumbling down in a shape of the Bat symbol which suggests this may be the end of the Batman.

Anne Hathaway's Catwoman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's John Blake are not seen in the trailer and the rumoured introduction of 'the boy wonder' Robin is also missing.

The Dark Knight Rises has an estimated budget of $250million but director Christopher Nolan has confirmed it will not be shot in 3D but he will use IMAX cameras for the action sequences.

The Dark Knight Rises is due for release in the UK on 20th July 2012.
